Hailing from Wil/Switzerland is the Smalltown Collective, our latest signing to the Hive Audio stable. On the production circuit for roughly a decade now and with releases on imprints like Plastic City Play and Keno Records the pair of producers has come a long way and is now ready to drop their "Aran EP" with us. The title track "Aran" sees Smalltown Collective on a quite seductive tip, working TechHouse crowds on a deep and subtle level. Their pumping, yet dreamlike production provides a dreamlike, atmospheric vibe accompanied by complex, slightly Detroit-reminiscing arrangements, carefully crafted pads and spine-tingling male non-vocalism for all the steamy, hormone-driven underground club nights out there. "Akiyama", the second tune on this EP, picks up on a more fever'ish, tribal-infused vibe with its epic intro sequence from which a precisely shaped drum emerges as a super solid foundation for a dark and mystic, yet panoramic overall vibe, strikingly large scale bass waves, a well-remarkable, unique string motif and decent synth modulations as well as plucked, digitally revamped guitar tones playing around with one's perception in the stereo field.
